Prime Minister Abe and other celebrities have visited to this historical Japanese confectionery store

When you step into the store, you will notice a picture of Prime Minister Abe eating delicious rice crackers. Not only Prime Minister Abe but also other celebrities such as Akiko Wada, a famous entertainer, and Ken Watanabe, who is a famous gourmet in the Japanese entertainment community have visited. This is a Japanese-style sweet shop with more than 60 years of history, located in Tokyo’s Kita-ku. In the Jujo area, which is the nearest station, there is no Japanese-style confectionary store with such a long history.

Many Japanese style sweets such as rice crackers and dorayaki

This Japanese confectionery store mainly offers rice crackers. There is a variety of rice crackers, glutinous non-glutinous rice crackers, baked rice crackers and fried rice crackers. Also the taste is diverse: soy sauce, spicy and sweet. The ingredients are also diverse: sesame, peanut, green onion, seaweed, shrimp, squid and green tea. In addition, they also offer dorayaki (a bean jam pancake) and jelly (seasonal), Busse, and youkan (sweet bean jelly).

Selected domestic and seasonal items

All of them are made from domestic ingredients carefully selected by the owner. For example, for the green onion rice snack, green onions grown in Fukaya are been used because they are soft and sweet. And the most popular dorayaki coating contains brown sugar produced in Okinawa Hateruma, and bean jam inside is made from azuki beans from Tokachi in Hokkaido. It takes more than 10 hours to cook the bean jam. Also, depending on the season, seasonal ingredients are used such as blueberries in summer, golden potatoes and chestnuts in autumn.

Freshly baked rice crackers

At the weekend, you can see how to bake rice crackers at the store. If you want to try, you can buy still warm freshly baked rice crackers. It is a real treat to be able to eat warm rice crackers. Prime Minister Abe also enjoyed it!
